Isn’t it wonderful how a renovation can bring people together?
The people doing the renovation themselves of course – Rob and I and the kids in our case.
But then you can’t forget about everyone else that plays a part: Our immediate families, whom we recruit now and then – possibly against their better judgement. The skilled tradesmen that joined our team from time to time, grasped our vision, and worked by our sides with the same passion. The neighbours, because hey sometimes you need an extra set of hands, or ten, to erect a 15 foot pergola. Friends and more friends, or sometimes the same friends on repeat. And sure, might as well bring the kids, those cousins you are babysitting, and throw the dogs in while you are at it. The more the merrier.
Beyond the actual physical bringing together, there is also this beautiful comradeship that can form with fellow renovators and enthusiasts. Take the neighbourhood dog walkers and runners for example, that don’t miss this loop so they can check in on the progress and offer up kind words of admiration and encouragement. The extended family and friends of friends who go out of their way to find us online or take a drive about to check in on the process because they’re enthusiastic about our efforts and want to cheer us on! And the online friendships that can form with likeminded, kindred spirits who sincerely want to see the progress, weigh in on the decisions, drool over the details and see dreams come to fruition.
To all that have played a role in this journey – this post is for you! Celebrate with me as we look back on how far we’ve come.
And a specific shout out to my friend and partner Rob – Can you believe we did all this? You deserve the most sincere thank you for jumping in feet first with me on this ginormous project and blindly trusting my vision without (too many) questions. Together we can do anything – this is proof.
Now, enough mushy stuff. Let’s check it out.

And there you have it folks. Our progress to date.
The list of to-do’s is still quite lengthy – is it ever totally done?
BUT, I believe taking a pause to celebrate the progress and recognizing the striking change is important along the way. It helps to avoid getting bogged down in the seemingly endless tasks.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour! And I would love love love to hear from you. Which change struck you the most?
